However, I do not believe DCI compliant systems are allowed to use NTP to adjust the secure clock since anyone could generate a fake NTP to get access to content outside the licensed time window. It'd take 10 years to shift a secure clock 1 time zone. Unless Frank's server has a more recent software release, an NTP appliance like the one referenced above should work fine.  |  IP: Logged Carsten Kurz Film God Posts: 4340 From: Cologne, NRW, Germany Registered: Aug 2009 posted 02-23-2017 09:34 AM                     All server manufacturers had software versions that did not obey DCI time setting restrictions for a while. They need to obey now. If GDCs running current software allow to shift more than +/-6min per year by connecting to faked NTP sources, they are not DCI compliant. In general, secure clock deviations are not critical, but, I would always make an entry in my calender to check and correct for a deviation around the end of december to keep it as close as possible to e.g. your cell-phone clock. At one day you may want to play a midnight preview or the like and then your out of luck. If at all, I would prefer to have a secure clock running ahead of actual time. The run-out-time of KDMs are usually not that critical, as the studios usually give you more time there than at the start. Plus, all servers will continue to play a started show up to 6hrs after the allowed time window. - Carsten  |  IP: Logged
