Author Topic: NC1200C Bulb Adjustment Questions Steve Kraus Film God Posts: 4094 From: Chicago, IL, USA Registered: May 2000 posted 11-20-2018 04:07 PM                    NEC-Brandi says her documentation says a hexagonal wrench with "width across flats 5mm." I don't doubt the screw itself could be 5mm but no way regarding the opening and the tool for it. I'm not going to pull the bulb just to screw around with it (yes,a pun) but I'll try to remember to have some 5mm set screws to test next time. Or take the brass adapter to Bolt & Nut Supply in Salt lake City and get your self a box of 100 spare set screws for a few bucks. Most of those brass adapters are laying in a box some place in those booths. I didn't toss them or the extra apertures. Maybe that part was made in the USA in a panic when "digital" lamps were unavailable? Possibly someone ham-handed it and ruined the hex hole? There is no metric Allen key between 2mm and 2.5mm. Brandi is pretty good but doesn't know every part and fastener. There are 5mm cap screws in the projector, those use a 5mm key. She followed up with "that tool size should be 5/64." At first I thought 'great...mystery solved." Then I did a little calculating: 5/64" is 0.078125". Multiply by 25.4 and you get 1.984375mm. So a touch under 2mm? 2mm was already too small. The beat goes on. 3/32" / 2.38125mm is too large (and was the basis of my self-ground tool). I do believe there is a 2.25mm wrench. As I said, 2mm was too small. 2.5mm too big. And no SAE worked other than by angular pressure. As my handmade tool was ground down from 2.38mm (SAE 3/32") my current guess for a quasi standard size is 2.25mm.
