Just to clarify if anybody is reading this in a few years time, this thread is talking about the first of the trilogy

Tower projection Intermission (UK).

Reels 1 - 3 runs 61 minutes.

Reels 4 - 9 runs 117 minutes.

I will be running this tower in a few months. I've watched the film without an intermission twice and i'm thinking of having my intermission at the end of reel 5.

Rather than doing that part 1 - 1 hour, Part 2-2 hours arrangement.

To me finishing at the end of reel 3 is just too short.

But i'll see how i go on.

Michael,

The Intermission at the end of reel 3 works very well. However I have timed it for you at the end of reel 5 as follows.

Reels 1 - 5. 104 minutes.
Reels 6 - 9. 74 minutes.

Personally I would have loved and intermission after the first 2 hours, my butt got so tired. I could have used a restroom break and so could the rest of the audience, judging by the amount of people that went in and out in front of me.

The replacement reel 9 is titled "A Glimpse of the future" on the leader.

New Line reports that a several prints have been returned with the original reel #9 in the can and the replacement reel seems to have "disappeared".

About 10 days before your playdate give the print manager of Entertainment Film Distributors a call. David Le Beau you will find helpful, and will see that you receive the new version reel 9 (and maybe a good copy). It will pay you to have a chat with him on: 0207 930 7744.

At least one print in current circulation from Criterion Pictures (not shipped from ETS) has the "new" R9. Does anyone know about other prints in current circulation?

Image is excellent with no major dirt or scratching. Dolby tracks perfectly throughout.

All reels have 23-24 frames following the changeover cue.

Reel 3's reference frame has only 3 perfs. A frame and one perf of black slug have been added to the head to ensure consistent framing from countdown to picture.

At least 50 feet is missing from the tail of Reel 11, causing the credits to end abruptly near the "Reprise Records" logo.
