OK, Folks. After reading all of the extremely negative reviews of this movie, I was determined to see this movie to see what all the fuss is about. I went to the local Carmike 10 last night and managed to buy a ticket without getting talked out of it by the theatre staff (something that foiled by first attempt to see it at another theatre ![[Smile]](smile.gif) ).
This movie is not great, but it isn't as bad as all of the reviews make it out to be. I've seen many comedies that I enjoyed less than this one. Lighten up a little, folks.
There were quite a few one-liners I'd like to remember from this movie, none of which I can remember now, except for "I hope the carpet matches the drapes". I'm going to have to start taking a pad an pencil to the theatres to write down one-liners I'd like to remember later.
The two main characters in this movie are so dumb and retarded that you want to hit them in the face with shovels. I'm really glad that Adam Sandler did not play the part of one of those dudes. That would have been unbearable.
The plot was very predictable with no real conflicts and no surprises. The two characters have one little falling out that lasts a very short time, and that's about it. At times, I was almost expecting a homosexual relationship to develop betweeen the two. I thought the "Chicks are for fags." line that got used several times was pretty funny. It made everyone laugh every time they said it.
There isn't really much in this movie that would make one want to see it a second time, although it would make a pretty good party movie for low-IQ guys in their teenage years or early 20s.
The credits contained some outtakes and deleted scenes. When these were over, the list of soundtrack songs was coming up. I don't think anyone left the auditorium before the credits finished (something that rarely happens). There were a total of 8 in the auditorium (me, two boy/girl couples, and one group of 3). All of the people in there looked to be in their early 20s, and were all very clean-looking, well-mannered, and friendly acting, and seemed to enjoy the show. I heard laughter on many occasions. These seemed to be college-aged people out to have a good time watching a dumb movie, like I've done many times to entertain myself.
The movie itself was presented perfectly, but the previews were all screwed up. The projector shut down seconds after being started. Between the first and second trailer, the machine switched from flat to scope and four trailers were played as scope even through they were flat. The machine changed back to flat in the middle of one of the trailers. The "Dolby" trailer was a scope one, played as flat, in analog, and the THX (robot that fixed the broken THX logo) trailer was covered with lots of black dirt specs, and even dropped out of digital once at the end! During trailer that was attached to reel 1, the machine stopped again. This showing was to start at 7:30, but the projector was started at 7:14. The machine may have been stopped the second time to make the show not start before 7:30. The LED screen at the box office gave two showtimes for this film: 7:00 and 7:30. The lighted signs with the posters only have a 7:10 showtime. There was a logistics problem here. Nobody missed any of the show because nobody showed up late (another rarity). This theatre is fortunate that I deduct a maximum of 2 points for problems during the previews that don't affect the movie itself.
