Cohen Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 975 From: Forest Hills, NY, USA Registered: Sep 2001 posted 11-23-2003 10:45 AM                     Sad to see such a mess made from a much-loved children's classic. I have a dog-eared copy at home of the first edition (1957) complete with affectionate dedication and crayon scribblings. And in our pediatric office waiting room, several copies of reprints which are eagerly grabbed by little children who happily read aloud to their even younger siblings and their parents. I think if someone HAD to film the book, the way to go would be to animate Dr. Seuss' drawings, with the spoken anapestic text, in a five minute cartoon, without any live action. But even that's not needed--the virtue of literature is the stimulating of each reader's imagination, so that each child sees and hears the story in his or her own mind.
