I've always liked Will Farrel, but Steve Carrell was awesome in this move. It was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Right up there with Cat in the Hat and Freddie Got Fingered. Thank God for employee screenings, no money lost...only time. This movie made me laugh, but there were some parts where I felt like 'uncomfortable' to watch it was that bad. Maybe it's just me, but I think that overt self-awareness and observation makes for good comedy. Anyhow, unlike many, I didnt downright hate this movie. But - I was glad i didn't pay to see it either. I really liked the sceene where Ferrel trys to explain the history of San Diego. Surprisingly, I really liked this movie. I never thought Ferrell was funny, even though he had some good moments in Old School. I only went into the auditorium because I had made some adjustments. But I ended up staying for the whole movie and actually laughed several times. The theater was nearly sold out, and most of the paying customers laughed a lot too. The history of San Diego is misleading though - colloquial German for whale vagina is "Walfotze" (pronounced "vahlfotse", with a long a like in father).
