What's missing from this film? What makes it a bad film? All other Shyamalan movies had a supernatural element to them. This one suggests that it does in all of its marketing, and then lets you down on that. If this film had been made by ANY other director, it might have come off as a great film to me because the supernatural would not necessarily have been expected despite the marketing. In DTS-ES and I gotta say the sound was excellent, esp the use of the surrounds. No noteworthy presentation issues, very good. Total of about 10 people in their largest 480-seat house. No droopy mics seen. *** POSSIBLE SPOILERS *** Very atmospheric, does keep you wondering what's going on. Technically well-done. But that's not enough to make it a good film. "Oh no, the village idiot found one of our costumes under the floorboards!" That was laughably bad. And what was with the fully-stocked pharmacy at the guard shack, and the guard just waltzes in and steals a load of drugs from right under M. Night's nose. Oh yeah, and we'll send the blind girl to go for help. Bah! Maybe not the worst movie ever, but probably the worst M. Night Shyamalan movie. This one was a real groaner, full of ridiculous holes and much too cardboard to keep my interest. The one thing I have to say is that I honestly think the movie would have been completly ruined without the soundtrack. I didn't see anything coming. I liked Sixth Sense I liked Unbreakable I liked Signs I liked The Village Am I the only person that suspends disbelief anymore during a movie? Yeah I know there's a twist ending to all of his movies, but why spend the whole time trying to figure it out? You only ruin it for yourself if you try to outsmart M.
