Am I the only one here who thought this movie absolutely sucked? It was too long, it wasn't funny, and the storyline blew. I couldn't believe how bored I was after the first 15 minutes. I don't know how any kid could possibly sit through it without getting restless. I must have checked my watch 15 times until it was over. There were far too many lulls. The trailers were misleading in the storyline. They showed The Incredibles trying to get back into their suits after many years off. This never appeared in the film. I was looking forward to seeing that scene but it never happened. The comedy was weak at best. I recall laughing maybe once towards the end. Hell, the TV commercial alone telegraphes the entire movie: Daughter is not going to be home for X-Mas. The Kranks decide to go on a cruise during X-Mas instead. The town gets pissed at them for it. Daughter decides she's actually coming home for X-Mas. The Kranks rush to get decorations up, presents wrapped and party ready in time. And they finish just in the nick of time for lots of sappy hugs, sentimental moments and other crap that makes you want to vomit at the end. I'll bet the only really funny scene in "Christmas With The Kranks" is Tim Allen's bo-tox frozen face bit shown in all the trailers. So there. You don't have to see that movie. That trailer was four minutes long and literally gave away the entire movie, not only the plot points but most of the "suprises" as well. We finally stopped running it about a month before we played the film so people would at least sort-of think they hadn't been ripped off. ANd even when i like them, I have no wish to see them again. I don't get the whole huge mega blockbuster appeal of movies like Shrek or even A Bugs Life. I watch them, enjoy them and forget about them. I thought Finding Nemo to be a great kids movie and a good regular folks movie. So I walk into The INcredibles with medium level of expectations. Well, count me as surprised. This has some of the Spy Kids appeal(not the dreadful part 3), pixar appeal, and general Spiderman type appeal. After a cute but strictly for kids intro short preceding the main feature which had me worried if I am going to sit through a feature tailored to kids alone, I was in for a great ride once the movie started. Funny with a lot of heart. I always enjoy watching Pixar films. It did also strike me that people died in this Pixar movie. I found the picture somewhat blurred, not sharp... I'm not sure how it will look on the large screen T.V. though. In fact, I confess to having had trouble staying awake during the first half, and this for a 9.30 am show! We saw way too much of Mr Incredible in retirement. Less is more, and the inner workings of an insurance company are not interesting to anyone, let alone a PG audience. There was still much to like: the film looked great and Brad Bird's Edna character was a hoot, but it wasn't enough. Having said that, I may well come to like it a lot more on subsequent viewings. Well, I retract my previous statement after seeing the film on DVD. This is definitely one of the best mixes I've heard in a long time. I can't remember which theatre I saw this in, but either way, my home system kicked its butt! The bass on this disc was, well, incredible. It just seemed as if at home, everything blended so much more seemlessly. I've also noticed in terms of LFE, on many films, our theatre just doesn't seem to give me as much as my home system. Sure, I'm in a smaller space, but I know these theatrical systems have to be capable of more. AJG  |  IP: Logged
