I just saw it in IMAX film, and I don't know what they're talking about at all. I thought it was right on par with the first one, which I thought was great. I noticed that a lot of the dialogue had the characters talking over the top of each other a lot. Is this to encourage repeat viewing? Overall I liked it. The sound was good, story was decent for a change. I can't really compare it to the first movie because I don't really remember much about it...typical for a summer popcorn flick, I guess. I will give it three and a half stars, with a half star deducted for the disappointing scene at the end of the credits. Just about every one of Spielberg's movies has at least one or more scenes with characters talking over each other in parallel at another character who is expected (and often does) absorb both conversations simultaneously. This show takes it to the next level though -- images that float in the air and can carried around and be crumpled up like paper. Really, these moviemakers are like people who over-use "WordArt" to make their garage sale posters. I enjoyed the film, and stuffed myself with popcorn soda and candy throughout. All the right boxes were ticked in acting, action and plot. Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell were great villains. Some people suggested to me that there were too many plotlines but I felt everything came together nicely. The first one seemed better, but only because I was surprised at how enjoyable it was. Looking forward to the third one.. I didn't think this was as good as the first one; still enjoyable luckily, but I had higher expectations. I'm thinking of going to see again before deciding whether or not I'll buy the blu-ray. Image was reasonably crisp and bright.(Maybe my standards are getting lower these days). THe movie was fun to watch even if it is not a must see. But with summer's slim pickings, this would be a movie to check out. Saw this at the Cupertino AMC at Vallco mall house #5. 35mm presentation. I presume it was SRD, I doubt anyone runs SDDS anymore. Print was practically flawless. Tack sharp all the way across, not a scratch or speck of dirt even at reel changes, and excellent sound. Only spotted one instance of CAP code either in reel 2 or 3. Enjoyed the movie. Gave it a B.
