If someone finds something valuable in a movie, and Stu certainly is quite articulate and intelligent about WHY he liked -- and to be fair, he does point out flaws in the execution -- then why piss on it? There are may films that don't have a majority following, even a rabid dis-following -- 2001, comes immediately to mine; LOTS of people don't like that film, even many here on board populated with film lovers. Sometimes it's not always gaining acceptance by the largest majority that makes a film a success. I kinda see your point, but that is over-ridden by the fact that "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore!" If people want to love this movie, nobody is stopping them. No I love thoughtful reviews but I will not read them until I have seen the movie. Unless it's something I could care less about...then I read it to feel superior! An audio-visual spectacle that it is not only about exciting effects and overwhelming sound, being both philosophical and allegorical. One of the very few films that has managed to keep me in the edge of my seat. I also have to note that the 3D effect was completely immersive, even more than Avatar's! Do not miss it! Rating: 9/10 PS: The end of the film is essentially the beginning of the first Alien. But it also prepares us for a sequel, which takes place in parallel with the Alien series. I watched "Prometheus" at my local multiplex (Odeon Starcity) in astonishing quality DOLBY 3D (Kinoton projector - Common Height Screen).  |  IP: Logged Frank Angel Film God Posts: 5305 From: Brooklyn NY USA Registered: Dec 1999 posted 06-23-2012 08:07 PM                        I was really looking forward to seeing this, only when we got to the Regal after checking the times on Moviefone.com, I was informed that the IMAX system had been down for a few days and there were no shows. Nice to NOT let the public in on that little fact. I understand being shut down for a show or two, possibly for a whold day, but for multiple days? So I asked her again, "It's been closed for DAYS?" "Yes," she replied and without even a rote "Sorry for the inconvenience," when she saw the disappointment on the faces of the four of us. I guess with digital, there isn't spare heads laying around down in the basement that can be swapped out to save shows. Anyone have an email address so I can complain to Regal and IMAX for making us drive from one end of the county to the other to a dark house? Trying to salvage the night, we Saw MEN IN BLACK ninstead and all of us purposely didn't buy a single item at their concessions -- AND we kept the glasses too. I must say, the 3D in MEN IN BLACK was perfect. Great effects and with No Strain Convergence thru out. 3D Done Right! so it wasn't a total washout.
