We have to clean every auditorium, and that means having to wait for every single straggler to get out of their seat before we can sweep their crap under the seats (we're a stadium 18 plex). Often times, I'll say "Have a good night", "Goodbye", etc. to them as they go, just because I'm so glad that they're finally leaving!!
We always do this standing in the theater. We have magnetized doors that activate when the cues at the beginning of the credits hit the projector's automation system, and deactivate when the automation hits the cues at the first reel.

DAMN! I thought of having automatic doors a year ago! I never actually thought they made such a thing. I never mentioned the idea because it seems rather unsafe (if a small child is there he/she will get whacked in the face).

Personally I think if it was a really bad movie oh lets say "Batman 5... Another bad actor"
instead of saying thank you. I would have the employees say stuff like "Im sorry, I know I know, Tissue? the exit is to your right and the bathrooms are straight down the hall where you may upchuck to your liking"

Or even have someone that can take a punch and well let the customer release his frustration on the usher from the box office poison that he has just submitted himself to.
