Author Topic: R Rated Policy on Dateline NBC Lance C. McFetridge Expert Film Handler Posts: 135 From: Penn Yan, New York Registered: Jul 99 posted 08-16-2000 01:56 PM                     Another clear example of NBC and Dateline trying to sensationalize a situation without uncovering the whole story. Of course advertisers pay well to these top rated one-sided shows which should never be called "News Programs". They stated that NATO promised certain things, well I belong to NATO, I guess they forgot to ask me my opinion. Come to my theatre and hop, and I throw your ass out. In fact, come to my theatre and do anything that disrupts the show, and you are out too. And since when are we all money hungry morons that get to keep all of the proceeds from a ticket sale. Last I checked, about 70% plus tax is paid out to the distributor for a movie on the break. Stone probably brings his won popcorn and drinks in when he goes to a movie. Man, don't get me started. There are very few close houses near by and if parents drop their kids off at a theatre with one title in 17" characters, what are we to do? Then we opened "What Lies Beneath". It amazed me that a couple brought their two kids, age 2 to see the 7:15 show. Then they proceeded to bitch that we would charge the kids. To end the debate, we have now banned anyone under 5 to any show after 6PM. Once again, it is our fault for hurting the kids, not the parents. We have it set that anyone under 12 will not be admitted to an R rated movie after 8pm. Letting adults view the evening films in peace without little kids running around making noise. We havn't actually gotten any flak about this. Our policy with R rated films is as long as they seem to be around the 14 - 16 age range we'll let them in if the parent give permission when they drop them off. I'm not a cop, I don't want to be a cop.
