Hey guys,

Disney isn't the only one in the "reissue madness" this weekend. Miramax reissued East is East this week with a big national campaign and co-op support. At least the terms are good. Did anybody check the video release dates for Gone in 60 and Dino? East is East comes out on Sept. 12th Seems like the relaunch is part of thier video marketing campaign, as best I can figure. Our East is East print came with missing heads and tails, which made putting it together "fun".

By putting the two films together as a package...basicly a double feature, and reporting the gross as one, you therefore pay your percentage on the combined gross. Therefore the total gross gets credited to both pictures. The two pictures will probably gross better together then they would at this point alone. They are therefore helping each other achieve a certain goal. That way it looks like each picture did better then it really did, and if the total gross for a picture goes over a certain figure...say like $100,000,000 the studio can get better terms when selling it or them to video, cable and TV etc.

We picked up East is East too. The print was just as lovely as our Gone in 60 Seconds print.

East is East is being rereleased? One of our theatres here has been running it for four months. It still does good business on weekends. I guess this means it will be staying even longer. It is a fantastic movie so I can't complain.

East is East came to town here too. Some *$#@! put a show-end cue (or what would be a show-end cue on my cue readers) at the begining of the credits and covered it so you couldn't see it with black ink or something. Our copies of Dinosaur and Gone are just dirty. I've seen much worse.
