Mark, The more shots you put in that "screwdriver" the closer to the ground I will be. So I leave the amount up to you.
Oh! Yes, and send the "bill" to whoever created this thread. Thank you I appreciate the drink.....your tools are safe with me.

Easy Bob, I had a sore throat this week and spent all my money on shots of Southern Comfort!

Arron, When your throat is sore, you must concentrate on clear liquids like Gin or vodka and do not worry if you have to add a slight touch of "dry vermouth" or a twist or an olive or cocktail onion. It won't help sooth the throat but it will eliminate all pain. P.S. Shaken not stirred.

Normally, I don't mind loaning anything to anyone who needs it. My tools have always been mine, and I learned a long time ago that you CAN'T loan tools out, because they never come back!

In the old days, it wasn't unusual for theatres to help one another out. It was good to get along. Stock yes, carbon yes, but tools... NO!

Who in their right mind ever lends out the tools?!?! You might as well start lending your liver and kidneys too. That is just plain nuts. Pretty much what has been said in this thread needs to be held in high regard. Keep your tools locked and hidden and hide your key on your person or maybe in an orfice of your choice and under any circumstance, never key that key up. I have lost more tools that way because I thought I can trust people with them.....

Ok, I will now step off my soapbox now and stop ranting...thanx, I needed that.

Friday night, late shift was always the time for a colleague and I to do our weekly tool chase, we'd quietly dice in to the managers office, box office, bar and concessions and re claim what belonged to the booth. Then sit back and wait for irate staff to come looking for THEIR tools!! Solution was a padlock on the toolbox, and a chain to the desk leg. Anyone found in their while that padlock and chain were off had to suffer the combined wrath of Naples and 'Saunders the bear'.

Now that I'm an engineer I get REALLY irked when I'm in a booth somewhere and someone asks, can I quickly borrow.....? NO, is the short reply, that gear, whilst provided by my employer, well, mine! I can't work without it, and I've built up my kit to suit the machines I work on, some of the stuff in their I made or had made, some of it is old and obscure and simply irreplaceable. As we say here, never a lender or borrower be.

From what I have read in this thread it is extreemly important for all projectionists and Engineers to have a safe place to lock up their tools. Now, having said that, I would be willing at great personal sacrifice to keep duplicate copies of your keys and cominations in my files, at home in New York.

Please write on a 3" x 5" index card the following information.

Theatre name. Security code for alarm.
Safe Combination
Note where you hide tools (send key for room)
What kind of tools your hiding

Note on back of card when theatre opens and closes.

If you have guard dogs, what do they like to eat?

Thanks, for your patience.
