I think this thread just ran the full curve- from "give them whatever they want so they go away" to "screw 'em."

Maybe a good rule of thumb is refunds/passes only in first thirty minutes; passes only if legitimate problem.

Here's something else to think about: what if there's a disruptive person in a theatre, and the customer doesn't say anything until the show lets out. Do they deserve free passes (after all, they did still see the movie)?
