Well, Everything is speculation until it is official....i will say I have been to the star wars site and it sucks so who knows if anything will be announced on it....my feeling has always been when the movie comes in and there is a trailer for star wars in it then I guess that is as official as it can get.....

As far as attached trailers are concerned. I am fully aware of how the system works should be after 17 years of putting films together.

Oh and never say NEVER!

"Horse opera" is an old fashioned term for a Western.

Which is what the SW movies are (the first 3, at least).

Apparently, Steve Jobs himself told his Pixar employees at the cast-and-crew screening of "Monsters, Inc." that the trailer for Star Wars Episode II would be on Monsters.

This all comes down to a "believe it when I see it" deal. Internet sites that are not official sites are rampant with rumors, innuendo, and manufactured so called evidence. Notice on this link that they made light of the fact that they didnt record the trailer, because they didnt want to get in trouble. They only recorded the so called announcement.

It may be true, it may not be. When the prints come, we will know. You would think that if it were so, they would want to start telling people this so as to build even more buzz around the release. Remember that when it was BIG DADDY i believe that had the first trailer, the studio pushed that fact very hard as to get people out.

Another thought on this, since the studio put it on BIG DADDY and then pushed it, dont you think that they would want to put it on another big loser film in order to build that films business? Monsters Inc is already guaranteed 350 million, so why bother with it? Put it on a loser film like last time and force that one into the 100 million plus category.

Just a thought...

Big Daddy? I thought it was Meet Joe Black that had the first trailer for Episode one. Also if I remember right, wasn't there stories of people buying tickets for Joe Black, watching the Star Wars trailer and then leaving before the movie even started?

It wasn't attached to any movies released!!!!

The ONLY Fox movie out at that time was, The Seige.

At any rate, the theater I worked at, at the time, was sent a UPS Next Day package, and it had a label of some made-up movie on the package. Then, we opened it up, and voila, 9 Star Wars:Episode 1 trailers.

But yes, people would buy tickets to movies, and then leave. I bet they learned their lesson from the last one...

That made up title you mentioned for Ep. I was "She Stood Alone". You are right, it was not attached to anyhthing at all. I was running a 6 screen at the time and we received 6 trailer total...3 flat and 3 scope. Since I only had one digital house at the time, I placed the trailer on the print playing in the digital house. That was great, I was doing a promotion for RugRats and I put the trailer on that print to drive up the sales for that movie.
Anyhoo, I expect Lucas to do the same thing again with the promo items. There will be bogus titles to throw off any would be thieves. This was also done for the original trilogy when they were re-released in '97. Those titles were 6969, 7171 and 7373 respectively.

Er. . .If you search your memory I think you'll find that the trailer for Star Wars Episode One was attached to the head of Wing Commander which was released 3/12/99. I clearly remember folks lined up at the manager's desk for refunds after exiting the theater on this. . .

Also fueling the speculation is Big Media -- who when they're not warmongering are pushing lots of corporate hype. Three years ago Big Media wanted to know which movies were playing the Episode 1 trailer. The theaters should have told Big Media, "We do not give that information out to the press. End of story!" As it turned out Episode 1 opened big and fell off big -- thanks to all the excessive hype by Big Media. I saw Episode 1 on its first official day (Loews New Brunswick NJ, 12:30 PM show) and it was as if I were in the studio audience for a sitcom.

Mark O: IIRC, Lucasfilm ordered Fox not to attach the Episode 1 trailer to Wing Commander.

A close friend of mine has Monster's Inc., for a promotional/critic screening of the film. Apparently the trailer is a teaser and contains constant breathing and no other sounds. Weird if you ask me.

The Episode 2 trailer is just a teaser, and a pretty disappointing one at that. It's :30 of Darth Vader's breathing as they briefly show the various characters.

Sounds like a great "teaser." Since this movie needs absolutely no advertising to ensure a big audience, all they really need to do is announce the date of release. After Lucasfilm took so much unfounded criticism for creating too much hype for the previous film, this seems like a logical response.

This is what I understand to be true...although I could care less because I *HATE* this movie:

November 2 - 30 Second Teaser in the can with Monsters Inc.
November 9 - Special trailer available on the website that can only be accessed with the Episode One DVD.
November 16 - Full trailer in the can with Harry Potter.

So, Star Wars fans, that gives you 3 different trailers within two weeks time.

Big Daddy came out in 1999...after star wars....the one you are thinking of is The Waterboy....Yes the only print to have Star Wars attached was Wing Commander. Whats funny is we were told to remove it after the first weekend.....
