Hello folks, whats new in my current situation, well, I haven't quit this theatre, its been quite for about a month, Xenon bulbs are still 8-9 months old, a bunch of new Xenon Bulbs came in last week and have nit yet been put into place, and I now have another Booth meeting on Monday. This Booth meeting has been braught up becuase this one projectionist called me up tonight about a day he needs off, and is not getting his way and told me some things to me that tell me he's making me look bad, saying I'm a screwup, and will keep running to the one Manager that listens to his petty complaint! He needed off on Sunday, and he said I was the only person that could cover for him in the booth on that day, when I need of Feb. 14th, and I alread did him the faver last Sunday and got my girlfriend to work for him on Superbowl Sunday. And I told him he owes me and then some words flew by in the conversation and he went overboard and started bad mouthing me. I was willing to comunicate calmly to solve or reason with him, but instead, he pushed the other way, stabbs me in the back, makes me look bad, and will discuss this at tomorrows Meeting. Now thats two meetings for Monday! The first one is a supervisor certification meeting and after that I will discuss this with him with the house manager. Its time to defend myself and bring my girlfriend in, as she is a target as well. This one projectionist is out to see myslef and my girlfriend look back and get fired. This thing keeps coming back and I know it will not go away. If I had the power, I would have fired him by now. As I see it, they way this projectionists keeps going, I will not enjoy working with him and not be giving or help him get what he wants at all! This projectionists knows if I quit, he will become the head projectionists and its gone to his head.

I know I may not be able to fire the person, but I had the meeting tonight and found out some more things and I personally don't think it will get better. First off, the company is taking steps to make sure Projectionists are now Supervisors and have new duties that include floor supervisors jobs. These are: Inventory control and counts, opening and closing consessions, coffe bar, and some odd and end stuff I don't remember. They told us that the company doesn't want the projectionists to start being a Union. We were never a union to begin with, and we know how the company doesn't like Unions anyway. I still think its to keep us labled as supervisor/usher/booth to keep us at a low wage. We will be used more on the floor, and we also have to train (On their free time) the current floor staff supervisors in the booth on how to thread, the basics, breakdown and buildup moves, trailer replacments and ad replacements. Now back to the real meeting that I had with the problem projectionist not repsecting me, underminding my authority, he said he thinks he could do a better job than me as the Head Projectionist. Well, it got a bit heated discusions with this persona dn me and the house manager, but the manager seperated us, and I spoke to the manager only. While he remained neutral, and I then said I want this person out of the booth and fired. The manager said he could get a new booth team up there and want to resolve the issue another way. Well, he's gonna talk to this problem projections, and do what he has to do, and I will do the same even if I have to goto the GM manager or someone else higher in the company or, wait a bit longer to see where this all leads and find the straw that breaks the camels back. Whats it gonna be, I keep getting into this for a 2nd time, what, wait for the 3rd, and say this is it, its me or him? And the soap opera continues....

Ok Darren, same thing happened to me. The company I worked for wanted their projectionists more on the floor, so that's what we did. We'd thread up the machines, start them, and head downstairs to do our "duties". If something happened, we had to take the extra time to get upstairs and fix it. If anyone got mad at us, "Hey we're just doing what corporate told us!" Well the customers got mad, so then we had them fill out countless complaints and send them into corporate. Needless to say it stopped after a while and things got back to normal. As for the problem projectionist, just see where it leads. If he really pisses you off either kick him out, or if he doesn't listen, seek a higher manager to kick him out. If he needs a reason say you're gonna seriously sock him, but you want to act professionally, and that he should get rid of him.
