Use the links I gave at Boxoffice or Film Journal for the contacts at distributors.

You won't be able to PHONE-THX any more. Lucasfilm's TAP division is no more. [Frown]

Thanks for the responses, all. Next time I'll just heed Weenie Man's words and spill popcorn everywhere. Gotta love free refills on large popcorn. [Smile]

Oh and hey to Mr. Martin; it's been a while. Hope to hear from you on AOL sometime. [Smile]

If anyone was wondering, there are normally 45 minute - 2 hour breaks inbetween shows at this place. I have NO idea why they are in such a hurry and want people to "GET OUT" of the cinema...

Yeah, I have to admit...I liked the "Weenie Man" caption on my picture, everyone on FT knows me by that name. Maybe someday that will be re-instated. [Smile] <hint>

I have a solution, no cleaning lights. We only have the house lights to clean by and we get our theatre clean.

At my theatre, the ushers aren't to use the Halogen cleaning lights. The house lights provide more than enough illumination to effectively clean an auditorium durring intermission, and using the cleeaning lights only leads to problems allready mentioned in this thread. As a mater of fact all the switches to the cleaning lights are labled DO NOT TOUCH. The lights are used only by the night staff for deep cleaning of the theatres.

Since UA had merged or whatever with Regal after that, there was then no way to contact anyone regarding that particular theater.
Every Regal Entertainment Group location has comment cards available upon request. Also you may call 1-800-555-TELL.

After the
show I got one of those GCC comment cards from the lobby. The
next day I sent it in. Around that time I worked afew shifts at
GCC Sherman Oaks. A few weeks later my manager comes into the
booth and gives me the comment card that he just got for the
DM. He told me that I should not send these cards.

That depends. Did you buy tickets or did you use your employee privaliges to get passes? I get passes to other locations all the time. My "comment card code of ethics" says that one must buy something in order to complain. Once I buy even a smal pop-corn, however, I make the transition from free-loader employee to PAYING CUSTOMER. At that point I'm entitled to complain and send in negative comment cards.

quote:

When the show ends, dump the trash cans on the floor and say "That's for not waiting til the end of the movie!"

Heck yeah!!!!

Cleaning lights should be appropriately wired through the automation so that they can not be turned on until the douser is closed. Any theater management/booker that sets showtimes which requires people to clean during the end credits in order to be able to get the next crowd in and the next show started on time needs to learn a little respect for the people who made the film and the customers who want to watch ALL of the film.

I would hope that theatre management would welcome constructive criticism, even from their employees. [Roll Eyes]

The whole idea is to help each other get better, isn't it?

Yeah, but not til the movie's actually over.
I mean dumping the popcorn on the floor, didn't catch the responses in between!
The lights should be able to come on during the film in an emergency though.

As a union projectionist, I would get the floor staff employee pass privalige. But as a rule the Union projectionists were employees, but not entitled to regular employee privaliges.
But I do stop at the snack bar & buy a popcorn & coke.
So that makes me a paying customer. At times I would go to a
theatre, stand in line to buy a full priced ticket. And the
manager or Asst. would stop me at the door. They would have me wait and they would return with a pass ticket & refund. That
still makes me a paying customer. If I'm working for the same
company and I see something wrong. Like what happened with
starting to clean during the ending credits. Just show me the
comment cards. As a professional in this business each show
should be perfect. Maybe thats why I left the theatre end of
the business. To many people doing film and theatres wrong.
Now as a Studio Projectionist, I do not have to deal with the
theatre chain [bs]

When I was trained as an usher, I was taught to wait until the last customer has left the theatre before turning on the cleaning lights. I still believe heavily in that rule.

But what use to pisses me off was an usher leaving the lights on. I would call management on the walkie and it took about 10 minutes before the usher got the message.

All booths should be equipped with a way of turning the cleaning lights off. That simple.

We only use the house lights to do our cleaning between shows. There are many times when people sit through the entire credits of a movie, maybe they knew someone that worked on the film and want to see their name. That would be very rude of the theater to deny them of that.

As far as hooking them up to the automation, there may be a time in an emergency case when someone has falling or hurt themselves that you would need the lights on immediately to assist the person. The only time I've turned on the cleaning lights during business hours, is to assist a patron who has lost a wallet or their wedding ring or something along those lines.

The theater I used to work at at a breaker in each cinema in the booth to shut off the cleaning lights.

Ours has all the cleaning light breakers in the booths too except for one house. We clean using only the house lights or sometimes flashlights if the shows are very close together or it is real busy, but fortunately we rarely have any serious cleaning to do between shows unless it is a blockbuster or a kids show - then the place is a pigsty. The only ones that use the official cleaning lights are the housekeepers, and they are only around when no one else is in the building.
