I side with the doorman on this one. I ALWAYS told people about the Matrix trailer at the end of Reloaded. They appreciated it, except I would say, "If you want to see a surprise, there's something after the credits" but not tell them exactly what. Half would usually leave, and half would stay. That said,
quote: Richard Greco She just keeps me because I am the only qualified projectionist there and she doesn't want to run the films.
Then there you go. Why didn't you bring it to her attention that you have her by the proverbial balls a long time ago? If you're at a Carmike, I can sympathize. Same thing, just get a picture on the screen no matter what it looks like! Hell, we even played scratched and trashed trailers that had been through numerous brainwraps thanks to the other "projectionists" because they were on the corporate trailer list. That's how Carmike works, there is no reality except what's on paper. The movie isn't damaged because no one complained. The theater isn't too hot because it doesn't smell like ass-sweat yet. But MAKE SURE you sign those damn theater checklists, because as long as some goof's initials are on there, that means there were no problems. Am I right?
It has already been deduced that this theater won't be a good reference for you. Once you are secure with another job (that's what I did. I worked at the other place for a couple weeks before I quit my other job.) then at the first sign of shit they give you, let out your feelings, albeit in a mature fashion. Be assertive, not aggressive. Explain that you are tired of being treated like "time on the clock" instead of a real person and that you feel your presence is more of an inconvenience to the staff and management than an asset. So on that note, "Build the damn movies yourself. Maybe then you'll appreciate me." And leave without another word.
Then, if they try to contact your new employer to rat on you, you can sue the shit out of them. Bingo. You got your own theater!
Oh, and if any of Richard's smartass co-workers or detestable management are reading this, if you'll only sign this waiver releasing me from any legal consequence, I'll meet you in the parking lot after hours.

It is COMPLETELY inappropriate to start cleaning the theater until the last of the credits have rolled AND/OR the last patrons have left. If they stick afterwards you can ask them to leave so you can clean, the feature is over.
The reason it is wrong to start cleaning is the same reason you don't turn up the lights during the last six minutes of the movie and start cleaning. THE MOVIE ISN'T OVER UNTIL THE HAMMER DROPS!!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!
The credits are an acknowledgement of the people who toiled for untold amounts of time for very little money to make that feature, and they deserve as much credit as the people in the last six minutes of any feature, for if it were not for them, the picture would not be made.
I have several times voiced my dissatisfaction with cleaning crews directly to them and to thier management about them disturbing me while I read the credits. I have forever banned certain theaters from my viewing experience for thier violations and will never return, and make sure as many people I know never go their either.
If there is anyone who has the opinion that my enjoyment of the film is not important, why would I want to ever find that person in a theater I am at? I would seriously ask that person look into your own personal ethics and challenge them before challenging others on thiers.
Remember that reaction only takes a second, rational thought takes much much longer. It is better to be silent and be thought of as an intelligent man, than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt.
Ciao
Dave
