If your not happy, you might as well move on. They most likely won't change, and won't bat an eye when you quit. Otherwise, do your best for your own sake. At the end of the day you have the satisfaction of knowing you did your best. So I'm basically an oil filter in the engine of life! k... I know money isnt everything...thats why I took this job. Actually being able to enjoy my job and look forward to being at work is far more important than any amount of money. However, seeing "kids" with no booth experience, or LIFE experience, being promoted around me, irritates me to the point of not even wanting to go in to work anymore. That is the main reason I am leaving. I know they wont bat an eye when I leave, but I will have the satisfaction of knowing that they will be paying a LOT more for the repairs now. They will also be forced to pay milage, something they refused to pay me. Paying their existing people is considered a reoccuring bill and therefore to be avoided. I have seen many, many good people leave this industry. This is the prime reason they go; watching money & time wasted and good people bypassed in favor of those who are incompentent or worse. (not a threat.) I do the newspaper ad, the website, take care of the computers, maintain the projectors, and am involved with the daily operations. I also do any coupons and local advertising that we purchase. At the same time, I get the impression that when I disagree with their "brilliant" ideas and express my concerns, they would rather not have me around. It took me 3 years to get a single Kelmar film cleaner and some Film-Guard for my theater. They like it now that we have it, but I still can't get any more Kelmar units... And I only ask for a tech once per year for maintenance I cannot do (no scope or measurement mic.), and they don't like that either. Nevermind that before I moved to the booth we were paying for 3 or 4 tech visits each calendar year. My machines may run dirty sometimes, but they always have a clean path, lots of grease and oil, and a well-focused lamp and lens. Big circuits aren't the only ones that neglect their people or their equipment...  |  IP: Logged
