I agree with Mike, Fox makes it VERY easy to promote their films, especially for us independant exhibitors. If the other studios would make it as easy as Fox does, I might promote alot more of their films.
Disney's not bad, but you have to call at the right time or you miss out on all of the good stuff.
Being a drive-in, which attracts lots of families with young kids, the "promotional kits" with buttons, mini posters, braclets, coloring books, etc. goes over great with our crowds. On a busy sell-out night, I'll take my "box of goodies" out in the field, and walk car to car, mini van to mini van and hand out the stuff to the families. Giving out "Free Stuff" to familes with kids goes a long way in both promoting the film and promoting your theatre.
When the first "Garfield" movie came out in 2004, Fox sent us a huge 9 foot tall inflatable "Garfield". We put it out in our lobby, and we had people lined up with digital cameras taking pictures of their kids next to Garfield. Good thing I saved that inflatable, as Garfield 2 comes out later this year!
