Chris Slycord Film God Posts: 2986 From: 청주시, 경북도, South Korea Registered: Mar 2007 posted 08-06-2007 03:04 AM                     I'm at an AMC and we have the same thing... only some of our concession tills have dimes, nickels, and pennies for such weird situations. Even if someone pays with those, the managers would usually just deposit quarters and leave some change in the till. Regardless, that guy obviously handled the situation wrong. He clearly didn't follow the L.A.S.T principles (Listen, Apologize, Solve, Thank). I don't know what he was thinking asking the guy for his name; did he think the guest would suddenly go "You're right! Though I brought that one up because LAST is an AMC thing (they really like their acronyms) and he completely missed the boat on using that one (which is odd, since it's something brought up in any staff member's orientation). I am currently a manager/ former Presentation Manager of a 24 screen theatre. It's principle, plain and simple. I've taken money out of my own pocket NUMEROUS times if of of the cashiers didn't have the correct change... Works for me. I got ALT-155 for the ¢ symbol from WordPerfect 5.1 back in the ancient days of the 90s, or maybe it was the 80s. You have to accept legal tender and it seems to me you're not permitted to short customer change just because you don't happen to have any. It actually costs more to make pennies and nickels than they're worth and we should really get rid of them, but no politician would ever take that stance because it's actually admitting the reality of inflation.  |  IP: Logged
