Hello again guys,

Thanks for the replies. Plexiglass will not be my long term solution for this. It was mainly a "we need it now" situation. We actually have a glass shop up here that can cut safety glass to the same size for a pretty low price. They also informed that they have something like what's used in cars that way if it happens again it would be help together instead of all over the concession stand.

The problems with plexi glass are abundant around our theatre due to switchouts over time. We are trying to get somethings back to glass, but a few things are horrible..such as a display case that was broken and then replaced with plexi glass. After the many cleanings it had it looked like [bs]

. It's next on the list though. Just for future reference, Lowes/Home Depot both have an acrylic/plexi cleaner solution. This stuff works great on the doors and on Nacho machine doors.

About two months ago one of my managers was puting the side glass back in after repairing the kettle and the glass shattered. He called and told me he was very gentle and didn't know what he did wrong to make it shatter.
I was thinking to myself, how do you break the glass?

Then just last week I was taking out the back glass of the machine (after a kettle fire). And kapow, millions of little pieces exploded everywhere...I saw what he meant.

Not fun to clean up, but it wasn't like the popper was spotless after the fire anyway.

I work at a hockey arena that uses saftey glass around the rink and when we change the arena over for concerts this glass has to be taken down. You can hit this glass on the flat surface with a hammer and it will not break. The second you touch the edge of the glass to anything it breaks into a million peices. I would guess that the glass in these popcorn machines has a similar property.

Yea, the glass panels installed on these Cretors are tempered glass and not plate glass - why the explosion in a million pieces..

Could use laminate (windshield) glass next time ...

Tim....naw, the cops were pretty cool (and that's saying something, coming from someone who has quite a few issues with cops). You gotta realize that this is Brooklyn; they have to think like cops first before they make nice. After they understood what was going on and that I wasn't committing some crime, they were very helpful. I was just really glad cops happened by, given that I thought I was being shot at!
