Like I said, I tried to steer him toward the independent theater, pretty much for the same reasons.

I did tell him that, no matter which place he goes, he's probably going to start out as an usher. The difference is that he'll probably STAY an usher for a long time at Regal whereas, at the independent theater, he'll be an usher AND a projectionist... AND a concession stand crew... AND box office... etc. etc.

I explained that a letter of reference shouldn't be seen as a "ticket" to the projection booth but more of a foot in the "door upstairs."
