The second stand was always intended to be an auxiliary stand, usually located closer to the auditoriums than the main stand, so that customers wouldn't have to walk as far to buy concessions once they were already in their movie, and to perhaps entice those who passed by the main stand to buy something on impulse. The auxiliary stands would usually only be staffed on the weekends when business dictated, but in most cases, after business leveled out 6 months to a year after a new theaters opening, the second stand would rarely if ever get used, since it wouldn't bring in enough extra revenue to make it worth the time, effort, and payroll to run it. Most new buildings I've seen over the past 5 or so years have completely gotten rid of the auxiliary concession stand, in favor of equally pointless Hawking schemes, but that's another issue.  |  IP: Logged
