Hell IFC Center has a tiny 30 seat theater...
That's not tiny. The Christchurch Academy Classic at 11 seats is tiny...

It's tiny compared to other commercial movie theaters - at 11 seats I don't think a commercial movie theater could break even. IFC is a for profit organization owned by the evil Cablevision Corporation that behaves like a not for profit. There's something wrong about paying $13 to see a movie in a theater this small and recognizing that they have started labeling what's playing in Theater 5.

An aside: the major problem I have with IFC Center is that they often are exclusively showing films distributed by IFC Films. That means they are sometimes the only theater in the country showing a certain film, giving it a token release in Theater 5 while simultaneously showing it on cable. Essentially Theater 5 has been created (one of two theaters in a former cafe space) to satisfy contractual obligations or to keep films around longer. Sitting there is about as pleasurable as watching a film on my iPhone.
