The Scotts Valley Cinemas in Northern California once had, and may still have for all I know, cry rooms in their first two theatres (the location has gone from two theatres to four to six to ten since 1982).

Back of the theatre, separated room with a large double-paned window, with its own entrance from the lobby, a row of seats and a single speaker in the corner.

When we returned our theatre to a movie theatre they had taken the cry room and turned it into a place for groups to resale their CD's etc when they had live show. We have since returned it to its original use and many people talk about how nice it is to have available. Generally we have a few parents with small children a weekend who take advantage of it and it is nice to be able to offer it to a mother if she has a child who is cutting up rater than having to ask her to leave. We put rocking chairs in there with one speaker coming off of the center channel
