I accidentally ordered 35lb bags a few month ago, so they do exist commonly in 35 as well as 50. I can't understand why they would order smaller bags considering the volume they use. Unless their popcorn bins hold 35lbs.
Our supplier has both Reddenbacher and Vogel brands. BOTH are ConAgra products, and seem nearly identical to me. Vogel comes in 50 pound bags, Reddenbacher comes in 35. Reddenbacher costs me 1 cent more per pound, so it's not a big deal. I've been buying it cause it's easier for the kids to haul around.

Very interesting read. Good report, I can't beleive that they have 93 staff members on some nights.

I wonder how the AMC 24 in Toronto compares. All digital, ETX and IMAX included. Right in the centre of DT Toronto.

Anyone know if all the rooms are digital by now?

Yes all digital.

IMHO it is the number of people per show which is the most important number.
Why is this most important?

Why is this most important?

It became important for our single screen Nugget about ten years ago when I calculated that the key to increasing our audience was adding more shows. Although our per-show attendance has remained consistent for almost 20 years at around 50/show, most of our growth has occurred when we started doing two or three shows a day or stacking two films for a week. Creating additional opportunities to see a film is almost as important as the title itself.

PRECICSELY! I've been having this fight with my General Manager for years. He seems to think if you run three shows on a weekend, it's just as good as running 8 shows. His argument is, you'll get the people who want to see the movie to come to the shows when you run them. If you run more shows, you'll get the same number of patrons only they will just be more spread out. My contention is what you experience -- give more opportunity to see a title, you will get more people. And since we hire everyone on a minimum call, operating costs to add an extra show don't go up significantly.

That makes me feel pretty good. The AMC Empire is the busiest theatre in America and averages 60 people per show per screen.

I average twice that per show per screen, But then again I only have one screen, and I'm in a town of 10,000 and play pictures 6 to 8 weeks after national release, and only charge $3.00 per ticket. Well I certainly don't make the money they make, but all in all... it still makes me feel pretty good.
