The Amazon Echo does a good job of synchronizing audio between multiple devices. It sounds like we just have radios in several rooms. Just say "Alexa, play XYZ everywhere."

On sync accuracy, we tolerate late audio very well since we are used to hearing stuff after we see it (about a millisecond for every foot away). However, we do not tolerate early audio, since that does not happen in the real world.

And, thread drift here, speaking of audio sync, SMPTE 2096-1 calls for audio and image to be synced at the reference position (either 2/3 of the way back in the auditorium or perhaps the center of the seating area, I don't remember which). But, it seems to me, that we should have perfect sync in the front row of seats. Everyone behind that will have delayed audio, which we handle fine, and no one will have early audio. Have any of you set sync at some position (like 2/3 back), then gone to the front row to see how lip sync looks?
