Or Thor's hammer landing in the next Marvel universe?

I'm just waiting for the big wormhole to open, sucking in all those "Marvel heroes" that didn't yet get enough screen time in the last universe. I mean, they haven't even made a Guardians of the Galaxy III yet.

For me, personally, I would love to shove all H-bombs we have up that same wormhole...

We always sit through the credits maybe just out of respect for the effort that goes into one of these productions. I don't think we are expecting additional imagery or scenes and would be disappointed if there are none. Besides there are some hilarious names listed.

I do notice how patrons exit quickly as the credit roll starts. Seems a bit rude. In a lot of cases they do miss something potentially important if they care. Those are probably the same people that leave a NFL game in the 4th quarter presumably to beat the traffic and consequently potentially miss an exciting finish. Worse are those that leave a basketball game early.

Anyway, we've been the last to leave theaters. Now those of you who hit the cleaning lights before the credit roll finishes should be taken out back for a talk. ;-)

My wife tells me that there were like $135 tickets for 3-day Marvel marathon leading up to this picture. Seriously?

I'd be satisfied if people would wait until the credits started to walk out. At the multiplexes here people start walking out the second they think the movie is about to end. It's almost comical when you are at a movie with several "endings."
I don't know why this happens, but it is annoying as hell. Yet another reason I wait for the crowds to die down before seeing a Major Motion Picture.

We had a couple people walk out last night right after the last major "battle scene" ended, so they missed a full 15 or 20 minutes of the movie.

I don't understand the rush to leave early here in Small Town USA...considering the only difference is, it might take you all of 20 or 30 seconds longer to walk out of the theater with the crowd. People are dumb sometimes.

We are now playing a trailer for the new SPIDERMAN movie at the end of every ENDGAME session. Tom Holland comes on at the beginning of the movie and explains why you didn't see the trailer as they didn't want to spoil the ENDGAME.

So now the waiters have something to wait for...

My wife and I always set thru credits no matter what the movie is. Its a good time to begin chatting about what you just seen. I get annoyed by the young workers who stand next to you with a broom as if to say, please leave so I can clean up. Firstly they should not be sending in the cleaners until the credits are done. And secondly, I always leave my seat and area the same way it was when I arrived, and I bus all my trash.

I think it's fine to wait for the main part of the credits to end but once the credit roll starts, it's perfectly all right to leave.

Sometimes, there might be a supporting actor I thought I recognized and I'll stay through the credits until I find out. Maybe, once in a while, there is a piece of music I want to know the name/artist of. Sometimes, there might be a location I thought I recognized or something like that.

I usually stay until I find out what I want to know but, then, I'll gravitate toward the door and leave.

My girlfriend's father was a Hollywood producer. He almost always stayed until the end of the credits. Probably because he was making mental notes of people's names that he liked. (or didn't like.)

Besides, he probably recognized most of the names on those lists.

Imagine we could go back to this time where a movie properly introduced itself at the beginning and was finished once the end-credits got rolling? [Wink]
I've never considered a movie to be "over" until the projector stopped and the house lights came on.

I've stayed through and read the end credits at least since I was ten; it was when I became fully aware of directors, John Williams and the original Dolby System logo in the end credits of Star Wars.

Same for a few years ago when Pacific Title went under and most end title scrolls became the work of Scarlet Letters. [Big Grin]

I actually consider it disrespectful to everyone that worked on the film. Personal preference of course, but when watching a film at the Paramount Studios screening room I was shocked that the audience actually got up and started leaving during the credits - because for most these were their friends and co-workers' names scrolling up the screen and showing just a modicum of respect would be nice (you can only get into a screening by being an invited guest of a Paramount employee or someone affiliated with the film's production.)

I think it's a relative situation.

If you're in the business, yes, it is professional courtesy to stay for the credits. If you work in a theater, it is courteous to clear the theater so the ushers can get ready for the next show. Most everybody else is on a continuum, somewhere in between.

Most of us are somewhere in the middle where we can understand both extremes.

I learned something interesting from talking with my girlfriend's dad...

During the making of the movie, "The Eiger Sanction," one of the camera men died while filming a scene on the mountain.

The scene is where Clint Eastwood is on the mountain and one of his adversaries is above him and accidentally starts a rock slide. There is a POV shot where rocks are falling down, toward the camera. Filming this shot, a big rock came down and killed the camera man.

Many of the cast and crew wanted to call the whole movie off because of the guy's death but, finally, it was decided that the guy knew the risks and that cancelling production would be more disrespectful than continuing on.

The actual footage shot when the camera man died was, of course, cut out and destroyed but the rest of the film from the shot was kept in.

There is a brief line in the credits memorializing the incident but, if I hadn't spoken to somebody who was there, I wouldn't have known the whole story.

Yes, you can find some details of the incident on the Wikipedia page for the movie but most of the details are glossed over and Eastwood's role in the affair are glorified... but that's Clint Eastwood for ya'. [Wink]

Long story short... Yes, for that movie, the respectful thing to do is to stay for the credits. But, on the other hand, if you did stay, you probably wouldn't have known the significance of the line in the credits if you didn't have information from somebody on the inside.

Don't get me started with that; IMHO it's just rude for the theater staff to enter the theater until after the credits are done.

Alamo Drafthouse used to be bad about that, but it seems they are finally building an extra ten minutes between shows into their schedules now.

Don't jump the gun, there. [Wink]

I didn't say that it was all right for ushers to barge in.

I meant that it is courteous for people to leave, sooner than later, so that ushers could do their jobs quicker and more efficiently in order to get ready for the next show in a timely manner.

If time is an issue, we let our people into the auditorium to start picking up trash, but they're under strict orders not to go into the same row as, or anywhere in front of, people who are still watching the credits, and they're not allowed to talk while picking up either.
