Drink to the girls and drink to their mothers,
Drink to their fathers and to their brothers
Toast their dear healths as long as your able,
And dream of their charms while under the table.

Here's to my mother-in-laws daughter,
Here's to her father-in-law's son;
And here's to the vows we've just taken,
And the life we've just begun.

Tho' a kiss be a-miss,
She who misses the kisses
As Miss without kiss
May miss being a Mrs.
And he who, a-miss
Thinks both Missed and Kisses
Will miss Miss and Kiss
And the kisses of the Mrs.

All kinds of climate, but darn few ills:

In the fold of the grape let's pledge her,
Land favored by luck and fate,
California must be heaven,
for she owns the golden gate

Iowa - may the affections of her people, like the rivers of her border, flow to an inseparable union.

I used to know a clever toast,
But pshaw! I cannot think it-
So fill,your glass to anything
And, bless your souls, I'll drink it.

Not the Laurel-but the race,

Not the quarry-but the chase;

Not the dice-but the play

May I, Lord, enjoy always!

I drink to your health when I'm with you,
I drink to your health when I'm alone,
I drink to your health so often
I'm beginning to worry about my own.

Here's to good-byes-that they never be spoken!
Here's to friendships-may they never be broken!

I just received a copy of the toast supposedly made by General Louis Wilson, Congressional Medal of Honor winner and former Commandant of the Marine Corps at the Marine Corps Birthday celebration a few years ago.

I thought you all would appreciate the sentiment in it. Booty, your son the former Marine, would understand this and perhaps could use it in one of his sermons on "Love". Semper Fidelis

TO LOVE:

"THE WONDERFUL LOVE OF A BEAUTIFUL MAID,
THE LOVE OF A STAUNCH, TRUE MAN,
THE LOVE OF A BABY, UNAFRAID,
HAVE EXISTED SINCE TIME BEGAN.

BUT THE GREATEST OF LOVES,
THE QUINTESSENCE OF LOVES,
EVEN GREATER THAN THAT OF A MOTHER,

IS THE TENDER, PASSIONATE, INFINITE LOVE, OF ONE DRUNKEN MARINE FOR ANOTHER."
[thumbsup]

Irish Drinking Toasts

May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Here's to me, and here's to you,
And here's to love and laughter-
I'll be true as long as you,
And not one moment after.

Here's to you and yours
And to mine and ours.
And if mine and ours
Ever come across to you and yours,
I hope you and yours will do
As much for mine and ours
As mine and ours have done
For you and yours!

Health and life to you;
The mate of your choice to you;
Land without rent to you,
And death in Eirinn.

Here's a toast to your enemies' enemies!

When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

Here's to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold beer—and another one!

Here's to our wives and girlfriends:
May they never meet! [Big Grin]
