USA (1774.21 miles northeast of Dallas) Registered: Jun 99 posted 09-21-2000 06:13 AM                        Brad--would you set up the non-sync quad format to be format "84" or "48" on the CP-500? Mike--we had the same thing at the multiplex where I worked; one CD player (and Movie Tunes--ugh!) for the entire place. Personally, I recommend playing Sex Pistols albums before matinee shows of foreign films (the kinds of showtimes that catered to the little-old-lady set). I'm sure that the theatre would get plenty of compliments. Rap is also popular with these audiences. The midnight-show crowd always seems to like Rachmaninoff's piano concertos. When showing something that demands a quality presentation (say, "Casablanca," "Gone With the Wind," "Lawrence of Arabia," etc.), I recommend Movie Tunes. It really helps to set the mood for the film. Oh, and when showing GWTW, be sure to show advertising slides during the intermission. Audiences need something to keep them from getting bored. I wish I had one of those 200-CD changers, you could play Russian Roulette with it for money by loading 199 good CDs and one Movie Tunes disc and hitting random play.... Since I stopped working at the theater that uses them I've asked them to keep saving them for me. Someone told me he took a bunch of them for skeet shooting! I need to properly transfer some theater slides to video too for my 'home theater' presentations, but I'd prefer my "Mellow Moods for the 70's" 8-track playing over them. The place I used to work at had seperate CD players for each screen, which for 1989 was still pretty extravagant. We would play CDs appropriate to the movie sometimes, like the "Dazed and Confused" soundtrack when we had that movie or Danny Elfman's "Music for a Darkened Theater" for any movie he had something to do with, but then the slides came in and later Movie Tunes, so they finally hooked up one player to all of them.  |  IP: Logged William Hooper Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1879 From: Mobile, AL USA Registered: Jun 99 posted 09-22-2000 02:20 AM                        Scott! If you take out the advertisements and just show the trivia stuff, it's actually not that bad. I showed them before 16mm movies at home. Unfortunately, I loaned the tray to someone else a couple of years ago and haven't gotten it back yet... I also have stuff like Dolby posters and the cool wall plaque. Why not? On Tuesdays run nothing but rap music for non-sync. Get a mix tape and run it in continuous mode. Dirty South, East Coast, West Coast, gangsta, whatever. A couple nights ago I was out late with some managers deep-cleaning our conession stand and we stuck all kinds of CD's in the player. The ones I submitted were the South Park soundtrack , Orgazmo soundtrack, and Jay and Silent Bob soundtrack.
