Seeing the ABQ news articles regarding Rand, brought back some memories.

Had only one dealing with them regarding Dolby racks for a "THX" cinema in San Antonio. Dolby and I would not deal directly with Rand despite visiting him in Little Rock. He was just too risky. So, it went through a dealer to minimize the risk to Dolby. A month later I visited the location and it was on the end of the military runway. The racks we had built based on THX and the cinema spec had been rearranged. Amps missing or on a different screen. We had been paid in full up front but it was a head scratcher in a number of ways.

A couple of months later the chain went belly up. Strong, ORC, Christie, Schneider, etc. all got stiffed, some for over $500,000. They were running a scam on everyone and the "THX" certification was key to collecting their fee from the investors/shopping center developer.

Tony Rand did some time over all this.
