Oh Charles, did you even read that so called news snippet you referred us to? Even this so called news bit said it was choreographed, not canned. Canned is where it is pre recorded from a previous audience and used for the current taping show. Canned doesnt apply here.

And as for the choreography of the audience, this isn't exactly breaking news. NBC reported this in the first ten minutes of thier olympic coverage on Feb 8, and this breaking news was posted to this site on Feb 22.

The choreography was done by organizers to make the spectators part of the show, not to make the event seem more than it was. Made the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as many events, very fun to be a part of and to watch as well.

If NBC wanted to choreograph the audience noise, then why did they allow their announcers to yak so much that the viewers couldn't hear it?

Having worked for a number of years in broadcast TV I seem to remember that it is an announcers job to yack. How they choreographed the crowd of 55,000 people I don't know, but it was pretty amazing if U ask me. I CAN guarantee you that some guy with cue cards was NOT part of the show.

How old did Kiss look. Wow. Why is it that for every major sporting event lately, they define rock with a bunch of 50 year olds (Aerosmith at last year's superbowl, U2 at this year's). No wonder they had to choreograph the audience.

Apparently you didn't watch the whole show. There was something for everyone. But perhaps you were the only one that there wasn't something for. Chad, Perhaps a little more Whiskey and Beer and you'd have slept through it instead. A couple of good Martini's and you would have been more attentative!

Some of us old farts love KISS. And yes they do define rock. I don't know what you want as a definition of rock, but these new kids these days, just do not get what it all meant to us old fogeys.

As for the YAK content, bob costas loves the sound of his own voice. I remember watching the tape delayed fireworks, and this is what we got to hear... "Wow, what an impressive display of fireworks, just amazing, and now while those are going on, lets go to leslie visser down on the stadium floor with some of the atheltes..." QUE???

Then there was the comment "and now we are watching the band called Bon Jovi, who are from New Jersey as I am told"...

Anyhoo, it was a hoot...

Did anyone actually see Mark doing his little "Bambi on the ice" stunt in Utah, or did You all look at the foreworks just then...?
