You need to read the FAQ and stop your insulting and insensitive comments. A good friend of mine died as a teenager from electricution. He was trying to clean toilet paper out of a neighbor's tree and there was a live, uninsulated power line running through that tree. He was NOT an idiot who deserved to be removed from the gene pool. Do any of you know someone who died in this type of accident? And even if you don't use the word "Mormon" in this thread, I feel that unbridled and distorted, anti-Mormon statements on this forum are entirely inappropriate. There are bad apples in any church you want to name.

I am very sorry to hear about your friend. That was unfortunate.

As to the topic at hand, the forum rules state very specifically not to insult another member directly. Mark and Dave have not done this. Neither of them said "every person in this city/state is an idiot". At that point the comment would have included you AND themselves, but that was not the case. If I was to moderate this forum every time someone felt a crack was being insinuated, I would never get any sleep. If all the Mormons of the world register and are a part of this forum, then at that point I would moderate any comment made toward a Mormon. However, my most logical choice in moderation has been to ONLY concern myself with active forum members. (Translated: if a particular person is not an active member or EVERY person in a particular group of people, be that "group" a company, religious organization, the government or just whatever constitutes a "group", then I don't worry about it.) That's the way it has always been and will continue until a better alternative comes along that will not turn this forum into such a politically correct place that it becomes annoying to read.

That being said, I do feel Greg is right that "there are bad apples in any church you want to name", so perhaps the guys could please tone it down a notch. I don't think they made the comments to be intentionally insulting.

I will point out that while I do make anti-republican remarks, I am in fact republican. Also while I do make anti-mormon comments, I am also very very mormon myself. I was born and raised a mormon. I have served in my ward primary, sunday school, and elders quarum presidencies, as well as ward clerk. It is just like all those black comedians who make sarcastic jokes about black people.

I am most decidedly not Anti-Mormon however. Although Mormon, I am also Agnostic, and very, very sarcastic about my own upbringing. I do apologize if it offends anyone, and in the future, will try to make sure that any posting has the disclaimer "I AM A MORMON" attached to it.

I do love the life here in Utah, although I am a native of California. California isn't nearly as interesting as Utah politically or religeously, but there are more earthquakes there.

As for electrocution, I have known two very close friends who have died by it, so yes I understand. I myself have had enough voltage and amps pass through me to run a projector for a decade. I have had very close friends die from all sorts of things, ranging from cancer to cement trucks. This does not keep me personally from laughing at lifes little quirks and foibles. I do not laugh at death, but I do stare it down in the eye and send it on its merry way.

I make fun of my own brushes with death. The first when I had my brain tumor, the second when my car flew 200 feet off of a cliff, the third when I fell 90 feet rock climbing, the fourth and fifth during bouts of pnuemonia with temeratures exceeding 106, the sixth when I was hit by a jeep and thrown about 60 feet landing on my head, the seventh when I fell down two flights of concrete stairs and cracked my head open, and probably others I cannot remember at this time.

You see I take this death thing very seriously. When I learned of the possibility of people getting killed copying something from this movie, I myself was personally shocked that the studio would not see this coming. I also however recognize that todays child and teen population is grossly uneducated and vastly unsupervised. It would be shameful if anyone died trying this stunt. My comment was meant totally in the interest of sarcasm and comedy. I do not wish for the death of anyone at all, ever. Not even that evil man who raised me from a pup and keeps asking me over for christmas.

So once again Greg, please understand I meant nothing serious by it, and I am sorry than any inferrence was taken that it was serious.

As for emoticons, sadly many readers seem to need them to recognize
satire. Especially for those newbies who "tuned in late", don't know the writer, or need gesture and winks and nods to convey true meaning.
I printed Brad's emoticon chart twice, and misplaced it both times,
and never seem to realize one can open a second window and work from that, so I usually think "to hell with cutsie-poo--if they don't get my meaning, it's their problem." That's a lazy rationalization, though. I should use them when in doubt.

I too am very sorry about the death of your friend. Its a horrible way to go I'm sure. I however take death quite differently from many. To me, when its your time, its your time. At that point most likely, someone far more powerful has more important work for one to do than hanging out here on planet earth.
