Author Topic: Miramax gets into bed with Coors David Stambaugh Film God Posts: 4021 From: Eugene, Oregon Registered: Jan 2002 posted 12-21-2002 06:25 PM                        Ultra-leftist students and faculty of the University of Oregon succeeded this week in getting local radio station KUGN to drop the Michael Savage talk show. KUGN Drops Savage Why? KUGN carries the UO Duck football games and advertises itself as "The Voice Of The Ducks". Sharing the airwaves with ultra-right Michael Savage (albeit not at the same time) was too much for the hypocritical diversity police of the UO to tolerate I guess. Their motto: "Diversity of opinion is encouraged, but check with us first". But Miramax held it from release. I worked on it for Miramax. Miramax held on to it for some reason. (One reason was 9/11) Come-on Harvey. The above reason is , about the release. If so, that explains why Miramax financed CHICAGO, a place where "the gin is cold and the piano is hot!" That Miramax. What an ingenious scheme, to actually sneak a product into a film. David, the only reason a radio station dropped Savage was because they couldn't sell it. And if they couldn't sell it, it means nobody was listening or wanted to buy time in it or both. Likely both, and for a good while, or they'd wait it out. The story even *says* they were trying to replace the Savage show - & the only reason they'd be doing that was because it didn't make them any money - and they make money by selling advertising during the show, based on the audience size/share. My skepticism goes into full gear when radio, newspaper, or TV shows use the words "ultra-conservative", "ultra-liberal", etc. as signals to show which side I'm supposed to line up on regardless of what the details may be.  |  IP: Logged
