I collect records. I am the only person I know that's my age that owns more of his music collecton on LP's and 78's than on CDs. Don't know exactly how many I have but I own every single Beatles LP on vinyl, including a copy of the White Album on actual white vinyl. The oldest record I own is "The Preacher and The Bear" by Arthur Collins from 1909. Yes, it still plays. The newest is "Dookie" by Green Day from 1994.

Desktop Publishing. I like to use my computer to create things, and as soon as I get my video capture card up, I will use it to create movies as well. I also use my computer to play Movie Boss, but that's another story... (Thanks to whoever started the thread about that game!)

I write poetry, but not your typical "Spoken Word" stuff. I write what's called "Slam Poetry", which is performed as a competition in bars and coffeehouses and the poet is scored by 5 judges randomly picked from the audience. It's a lot of fun, and there are state, regional, and national competitions. I attended last year's National Poetry Slam in Seattle which was an awesome experience. Since I started college, I also became very interested in radio, which prompted me to change my major to Radio/TV. The day I assembled and tested out my Ramsey FM-25 was probably one of the coolest moments of my life. I hopped in my car and kept driving around the block to see how far my signal was going. I also had my own radio show on campus for two seasons, and was called back to do it again this season, but due to being strapped for cash, I have to get a job instead . (but at least I might be back in a projection booth! )

Also these past few months, I've been working on building my screening room, so I guess you could say that's a hobby as well. Nothing major, just video projection (and NO DVD player!) and Pro-Logic sound, but I have real theater seats!! The "auditorium" (our living room) can seat 13 people. The screen is due to arrive today (which it better, because I planned a screening for tomorrow ) so pictures will come once it's all done. My friends and I have already "tested it out" by playing Nintendo Game Cube on a shower curtain.

I wouldn't call this a hobby, really, as I only do it when the occasion arises, but Dumpster Diving!! Yes sir, it's a goldmine on move-in/move-out week here in a college town. I've found everything from perfectly working computers, televisions, (the 35" in my bedroom was absolutely free!) to barstools, speakers, lamps, desks, and everything else begging to be in a garage sale. I met an interesting person while rooting around one day. He was a student at the college who was collecting bags of clothes that people have thrown out to be donated to a clothing drive. Sad thing is, his car was FULL of bags. Seems like people just emptied out their closets and left. These apartment complexes should request Goodwill to set-up on site instead of more dumpsters. *sigh*

That's about it I guess. For someone with so many "hobbies" I sure do have a lot of free time.

I like the outdoors as well, hopefully I'll have more time in the future to get out and enjoy it, for now I live indoors behind my computer.

What old tv's have you restored? We have an RCA 8TS30 from 1948, a round tube (and round mask--I'm sure you've seen those) Zenith from '49 and a Stromberg Carlson of the same vintage.

I'm impressed by the variety of interests. A lot of reverence for older things from fans to cars to electronic equipment. It looks like there are some creative people putting that flickering light on the silver screen. The myth of the Hunchback-esque nerd tucked away in a small room making the reels go 'round is taking a hard hit by the number of you who are family folks (my daughter just finished up her shift with me here at the theater).
