Yes thats right kiddies, over 12000 movies. How did I do it? I am 36 years old, and started when I was four, staying up all night watching classic movies.

Taking into account the varying running times, I have viewed about 20,000 hours of films in 32 years, and that is not really that hard, you just have to be committed to the medium.

20,000 hours
divided by 32 years
is 625 hours per year
divided by 52 weeks
is 12 hours per week
divided by 7 days
is 1 hour 45 minutes per day

or one movie per day, on average...

For me, when I was four, I suffered from insomnia, I could not sleep to save my life. I would get up and watch classic movies all night, sometimes staying up until dawn, watching as many as four or five movies per night.

This habit of mine started me on a very dark road. Now I can't stop watching movies. DAMMMMMMMMIT!!! Most suck these days. But still, I must watch movies. I now just watch old classics all night, or personal favorites. I try to steer away from all this crap we have now.

Back in the day I worked for a decent sized video chain. I watched on average 14 movies per week, to decide what my stores needed. Now let me tell you, that sucked. I never saw so much hellish crap. You know that there is far more movies released to video than ever put on the screen, and most of those never see most video store shelves here in this country. At the chain I worked for, we prided ourselves on our selection, with most locations sporting about 20 thousand titles. There were some gems that I had never heard of, that never saw the vinyl screen. That was on average about 700 videos a year I had to watch, times that by about six years, and there you have a large chunk of that 12,000 videos.

I could have watched much much more, but when I got into jr. high and high school, I played much more with others, and during the day, that I eventually started falling asleep at night. I guess that if I had not, I could have easily watched twice that figure by now.

Remember, there are much more movies in our history than that.
