I often thought that too, until I realized a #2 Biggie Sized at Wendy's costs me $5.70, while a juicy pork chop, baked potato, salad, AND desert costs me about $4.50 if I make it at home. (If you want to get technical and count electicity, time, etc... maybe $5.00) I prepare it, throw it in the oven, go read the forums for a while and it's done.

If anything, fast food restaurants contribute to laziness. Joe Schmoe doesn't have time to make a meal, so he hops in his SUV, drives through McVomits, comes home and plops himself in front of the TV watching "Dr. Phil" tell other people what's wrong with their lives while consuming hundreds of calories to his convenience. Same reason people opt to order a $2.89 two-liter bottle of Coke with their pizza order because they couldn't pick one up for $0.99 on their way home from work.

Yes, but you can get a chili and a potato or side salad for 2.10. Much healthier, much cheaper.

When I want a decent cheap lunch, I go to Wendy's and get a small chili, caesar side salad, a bag of taco chips, and a free water. Under $2.50, filling, not too unhealthy.

McDonald's at the mall food court abruptly closed down last week for remodeling. I heard a customer at Sbarro's ask the clerk what happened to McDonalds. Clerk: "They're remodeling". Customer: "I hope you mean they're remodeling their menu". I couldn't help laughing. If you accept the notion of eating fast food, why oh why would you choose McDonald's when there are so many other better choices?? The last time I ate at McDonald's I got one of their new burger concoctions (I think it was the Big 'n Tasty or something like that), and the sauce was so salty I couldn't eat the damn thing. I talked to the manager, who said "Yes, we've had a few customers mention that" but he didn't offer to give me something else or refund my money. I threw most of the burger in the garbage because it was inedible, and I'll eat almost anything...
