John: Agreed, but the problem comes in defining 'unkind'. People can and do take offence at things which weren't intended to cause it. I think common sense is needed both in making jokes and in responding to them. In the case of that Australian pub, I'd guess that none of the regulars had a problem with those receipts, and the only issue happened when a visitor came along. The fact that he stocked Bacardi Breezers at all suggests that some regulars did actually buy them and therefore received the 'poofter drink' receipts without taking offence. In my local, the landlord's favourite drink is what he calls 'Nigerian lager' (i.e. Guinness), but he would never call it that to tourists. As a general rule humour does more good than harm and banning it simply on account of a slight misjudgement seems to me a case of overkill.
