I had been under the assumption that the MPAA is merely a sugestion. The only thing the MPAA is good for is keeping annoying kids out of R movies so adults can watch it. (The MPAA might be pointless, but it's sooo much fun telling kids they can't watch a movie!)

It's the same thing with the videogame rating system (ESRB), but in that case it only protects the developers so when some child goes on a killing spree and the lawyers try to sue them they can say that kid shouldn't have played this game, we're not making bad games, you're just a bad parent! (Had to throw that in there, I'm a big fan of the ESRB for that reason)
