Author Topic: Another Opera question Evans A Criswell Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1579 From: Huntsville, AL, USA Registered: Mar 2000 posted 11-25-2002 02:16 PM                        Opera just started crashing on me today at work. I haven't changed anything on my machine. I'm running Windows 2000. I had version 6.02 and upgraded it to 6.05 to see if that would fix the problem. Nope. Even bringing up my old WWW page http://home.hiwaay.net/~criswell/ caused Opera to crash after loading it. I noticed that Opera started crashing when visiting cnn.com, then started crashing after visiting nearly anywhere. I ran a virus scanner, which found nothing, and did a memory diagnostic on my machine. So, I'm back to IE for now and back to annoying popup windows while surfing. Has anyone else experienced a sudden crashing problem with Opera? That installation of Opera that started crashing today has been working fine with no problems for months! I sent in a bug report and even got an answer within 24 hours (!) I could not get it to work yesterday afternoon without crashing after loading a WWW page. Obviously, the problem was external to my workstation, because I haven't rebooted since yesterday afternoon, and the darn program worked fine until yesterday afternoon. I even upgraded it to a newer version and it still crashed every time! The thing that gets me is it did not affect MS Internet Explorer. After working fine all day yesterday, Opera is crashing again today when loading almost anything. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to ditch it. I would try uninstalling all versions of Opera, hard booting just for fun, and then reinstalling the latest 6.x release version.  |  IP: Logged
