If sound travels at approximately 1130ft/sec and you want 5-seconds of delay you need just 5650 feet of pipe. Then place a driver at one end and a microphone at the other. You could "plumb" it so you have several different drivers at different parts of the pipe so you could "select" different delay values. Alternately, have several different holes for various microphones. Steve  |  IP: Logged Paul G. It starts in real time and builds gently to about 4 seconds of delay. The host presses one button and it drops the delayed audio and reverts to the studio microphone. When you return to the phone line it builds back to the regular delay. The system sounds very good and you don't have to be a juggler to work with it. Like with the fixed delay, you have to anticipate the end of the commercial and start talking the 4 seconds before the spot ends or there will be a gap on air.
