T3 is set in the year 2005, just a few years from know. Miles Dyson's research was preserved thus leading to Skynets eventual creation. Another terminator ( The TX ) is sent back through time ( from the Year 2029 ) to kill us all, hence start the nuke war. John Connor has sent another protector back in time aswell, but this time I don't think it's John he is protecting. I think It's a girl this time as clues from the trailer and other sources seem to indicate.

I personally dont agree that T2 ended the story unless your content with alternate ending sequence. If you study T2 really hard you will agree that Cyberdine would not be the only place to store all data reguarding the super computer ( aka. Skynet ) that Miles Dyson was working on. The story of T2 set back the nuke war, how far is a question, but just as John and Sarah hoped to have saved humanity, they doomed it once again. In T3 terminators are a reality, alot earlier than what they were supposed to thus "Rise of the machines" is the result in my opinion.

Why do this thread even exist?
Because I want it to. [Smile]

My point in making this thread was to see what everyones intrest was in the movie and how much anticipation there was out there among our fellow film-techers. I am not bashing the film or the fact that it exists or the fact that Cameron didn't do the film. If it's a good film great if it is bad oh well. Anyways thanks for the current and future posts to this thread.

"Why does this thread even exist?" Darryl, I asked that question because alot of people love bashing this movie without any knowledge of the film. Your topic pretty much opened the door for it ( no offence Darryl ), and seeing how there were bashers ( no offence guys, you are still fantastic people in my opinion )., it's pretty obvious that they know nothing about the film. Perhaps the thread topic could have been worded differently, but thats just my opinion.

Your still a pretty cool dude Darryl in my opinion, and an awsome film-teacher. [beer]

Until Terminator 3 becomes a member of the forums we're all allowed to bash it. [Smile]

Anyways, the synopsis Warner Brothers sent me:

quote:

TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES

Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nick Stahl, Kristanna Loken, Claire Danes

Genre: Action

Director: Jonathan Mostow

Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures

Producer(s): Mario Kassar, Andrew Vajna

Screenplay: Tedi Sarafian

Synopsis:

A decade has passed since John Connor (Stahl) helped prevent Judgment Day and save mankind from mass destruction. Now 25, Connor lives "off the grid" -- no home, no credit cards, no cell phone and no job. No record of his existence. No way he can be traced by Skynet -- the highly developed network of machines that once tried to kill him and wage war on humanity. Until... out of the shadows of the future steps the T-X (Loken), Skynet’s most sophisticated cyborg killing machine yet. Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful. Now Connor’s only hope for survival is the Terminator (Schwarzenegger), his mysterious former assassin. Together, they must triumph over the technologically superior T-X and forestall the looming threat of Judgment Day... or face the apocalypse and the fall of civilization as we know it.

First of all, there's a difference between expecting a film to do well and wanting to see it personally. I have no doubt that T3 will make it's fair share of money, but that doesn't mean that I should somehow feel compelled to see it myself.

XXX did well at the box office - I didn't like it. Something About Mary did well at the box office - I didn't like it. Terminator 3 will probably be boffo at the box office - but I don't know if I'll like or not yet. As of right now, I'm not inclined to see it. Apparently this makes me closed minded. [Roll Eyes]

Just because someone expresses a negative opinion and doesn't feel like getting into details, doesn't mean that they're not informed. I happened to know full well what the basic plot of T3 was when I came to my conclusion. And after reading it, I decided that I had already seen T2 and didn't really want to see it again with a female terminator and a John Connor that shaves. It didn't sound very original to me. Apparently, I was wrong for attempting to form an opinion that wasn't in line with Hollywood hype bandwagon.

NOTE TO SELF: Only positive opinions or "wait and see" non-opinions are informed ones. Got it. [thumbsup]

Maybe, being disconnected from society, John Connor won't shave! Now what do you have to say for yourself? [Big Grin]

Besides that, you should know better! All opinions must be properly sourced! [Roll Eyes]

Personally, I could care less if I saw the T3. My reasons:
  • Sequels are generally not as good as the originals. (1)
  • I didn't really like the first two movies. So it is likely I will like T3 even less. (2)
Sources:
  • (1) General consensus of the industry professionals at the Film-Tech Forums.
  • (2) The opinion of myself, a professional motion picture exhibitor.

Well, I don't think it really would have mattered how I worded the topic I think if someone wanted to bash it they would. I think that if I had put something like opinions or something along that line in the subject it could have possably just drifted off the first page without very many coments. These types of postings are important even if they are bashing because it will bring out the true opinions one would have about the film from those who care enough to make a posative coment. You would get the same thing if you brought the subject up with a group of friends. Someone will bash it forcing someone else to bring forth their opinions to support it.

No harm has been done here this is posative work inforcement. [thumbsup]

What I wanna know is, how are they going to work the story so that Ah-nold gets to [sex] the girl terminator. You know that's gonna happen. [thumbsup]

I respect your opinions Darryl S., Daryl C. and Nicholas R. All I can say is, we will know wether or not T3 will do well when it opens. Hey why not form a topic about the Matrix sequels. I hear no bashing on those soon to be released films. We could name it " Matrix sequels.....Does anyone care?"

Hey , why don't you folks register over on the T3 website and get in on the discussion boards pertaining T3. You will learn a whole lot more about the plot and probably develope a want to see it.

Probably because I don't care enough about this movie... or any movie... to waste my time on web sites devoted to advertising them.

Justin, I'm beginning to wonder if you were somehow personally involved with making T3. It seems to hurt you personally that I don't want to see it.

There's a difference between saying that you're not interested in a movie and bashing it. Now, if I were to say:
1) Arnold is a big crappy wuss
2) This movie will be the worst movie of all time
3) This movie will be only marginally better than the live-action Pinocchio

Then, I would be bashing the film. But just expressing a desire to not see doesn't mean I'm bashing it.

Piece of advice: Don't every base your opinion on something based on it's official website. These people are getting paid to make it look like the coolest thing since sliced bread. If that's the "unbiased" source of facts that "informed" opinions are based on, I'd rather be uninformed.

I promise to see it, Justin, so that you may sleep at night.

Nicholas, thats a very well based answer, in the form of a ( OPINION ), your opinion. You still have my utmost respect though.

A word of advice: Please don't try to appease me for T3 sake. I don't have anything against people dissliking any move. They all are "just movies", you know, "makebelieve", for the most part. This forum is for anyone to who has an intrest in movies, film, playback proceedure/ technology, and the mechanics of it. We are all one big happy family here at film-tech, and all of this is just "MY OPINION". [beer]
