Damn....
Josh and I will be going through Tornado Alley soon. I hope we avoid nasty weather like that.
I can tell you (and I know I can speak for Josh) that our hearts go out for those who lost loved ones and their homes in those areas in and around Oklahoma City. As you know, Okie City got slammed by another tornado late Friday (today).
Another thing to mention unrelated to the tornados...I was stationed in NATTC Norman, Oklahoma in 1958 while I was in the US Navy. Norman is just a tad south of Oklahoma City. In those days, the "Hotel Black" in Oklahoma City was a sleeze joint which was quite popular with the sailors stationed at Norman. (Not me, though. I was squeaky clean in those days)....I did like the area except for one thing...the weather. It was just too damned hot and muggy. I arrived there in July of that year - yes, Phil...BY TRAIN!!!
When I left there, I went to Naval Air Testicle Twisting Center (NATTC) in Millington (outskirts of Memphis) Tennessee by a USN contracted "Fleahound" bus. Memphis was just as bad as Norman, Oklahoma. When I was released from there in 1962, my next stint was NAS Whidbey Island. My trip was, YES!!! Railroad - To be more specific, "The Portland Rose" train. (we were pulled by Diesels.... ) .
NAS Whidbey is where I retired from the US Navy...and I live in it's back yard. Not too bad, except when the EA6B "Electric Pig" aircaft decide to "bounce" at night. It drives me nuts!
