There are options for medicinal users, and the guys on those forums will gladly help you drop those lab made poisons, and show you how to do it SAFELY. Have you ever seen a person get so wasted on pot that they will still attempt to crawl around and manage to get their left knee entangled in their right armpit? : Frankly, I have not....but I have seen some almost as bad. A person who was drunk under the same circumstances would have long passed out. That's the direction I was coming from. But I will also concede that it depends on how much and how often. There was a captain of the California Highway Patrol some time ago that flat told me that that was that one of their biggest fears of DUI infractions for highway safety is a person "stoned" on pot or hash. They just simply go beyond the plateau where the average alcohol-induced intoxicated would pass out. I also agree with Joe. Medical is another issue. I will admit, I have smoked a "joint" or two, maybe even three. That was years ago, and I "did" enhale... But I certainly have no intent of smoking it again, nor will I ever encourage my friends to try it. When I went through those days, I consider myself as very lucky person for "being able to get of the scene" without getting caught.  |  IP: Logged Gracia L. Babbidge Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 709 From: Bowdoin, Maine Registered: Aug 2000 posted 05-25-2003 06:58 PM                        I don't want to get into full rant mode here, but living in a state where a damn high percentage of the population has indulged in smoking marijuana, I've got my opinions. I feel that medicinal use should be allowed, recreational use should be permitted, with restrictions similar to alcohol and tobacco. And the government would pull in a great deal more funds from taxing the hell out of weed than they spend on their 'drug war', so in that it would make fiscal sense. Yet, as Thomas pointed out, other industries would feel directly threatened with marijuana & hemp plants grown in abundance. Never mind that an acre of hemp plants puts more oxygen in the atmosphere than an acre of oak trees will! Plants truly are the best air filters. It has been my observation that most people that would be so stoned as to be dangerous, are also so unmotivated to do anything that there's virtually no reason to worry. The smell of pot smoke is far from my favorite aroma... But I do not find it anywhere near as nauseating as the lingering odor of a cigarette. The worst combination has to be when someone is inconsiderate enough to light up a nasty cancer stick in the bathroom while dropping a duece! Nasty!  |  IP: Logged Paul G. And yet, I am a smoker. Even worse are those damn cigars!!!! Jeeze, they reak! Pipe tobacco is not too bad to smell, but I gave up pipe smoking a long time ago because I didn't like getting the pipe jammed down my throat when I walk into a glass door. It is sooooo nice to walk into a smoke-free atmosphere. If I could ever get over the addiction of tobacco, it would sure be nice. I know what some of the "triggers" are, but as long as I am in the enviroment of smoking, it is hard to beat. This up coming trip to Texas is going to help me alot. I will not smoke in Josh's presence. He snuck up on me a couple of times and certainly advised me "which way the river runs." I will not smoke in Brad's presence or anyone else's presence that will be involved in the get-together in Texas if they are non smokers. For some reason, I can usually muster up enough self-disipline to prevent smoking in front of them. If the craving is too strong for me to handle, I'll go outdoors, far enough away from the non-smokers so they don't have to breath that stuff. I wish Tobacco products were illegal. Then maybe it would be much easier to quit. I would not want to take a chance and buy a pack if I knew I would be nailed to the wall for doing so. If I can get out of the tobacco smoke enviroment, I can deal with that. It is hard, but I can do it. But if someone lights up, I have problems.  |  IP: Logged
