As for "Hunting for Bambi" being some sort of fake, all I can say is Channel 8 did indeed shoot their
own footage for the story--they did not use any footage supplied by the Bambi people.

As I said before, it was likely staged especially for the media. They [the promoters] knew they were coming to do the story.

In the video I have seen, none of the 'Bambis' get hit (granted the quality was a bit low, but I did not see any 'hits'), another tip-off to being 'staged' (or that the 'hunters' were incredibly lousy shots).

Still sounds too insane to me to be for real, even in Sin City.

Don't forget there have been several other hoaxes that got reported on by legitimate news agencies as the real thing...

Paraphrasing...

Consenting adults or not, this is disgusting and degrading to men. The "entertainment value" of treating men as predators escapes me. There's some really SICK minds out there. [Eek!]

BTW: I agree, they should be wearing protective eyewear...oh, and give all of 'em paint guns too.

It would be funny if this did turn out to be a hoax (I'm doing some checking with friends in the right places--will let you all know what I find!). KLAS-TV Channel 8 is considered to be the best TV news operation in the Las Vegas market (Nielson rank #52), but the overall quality of the news reporting here is still pretty laughable. It wouldn't be the first time that a local news organization got taken, or went willingly along for the ride (Channel 8 is famous here for its Area 51/aliens investigative stories).

Here's an update. Short story: It's a hoax

On TV here our ex-mafia-lawyer-turned-Mayor Oscar Goodman (see him play himself in Martin Scorsese's Casino) is really steamed. Goodman says he is going after this guy personally, vowing to put him in jail for the maximum six month term for violating the terms of his business license.

Like I said, only in 'Vegas... [Wink]

From article: Burdick told several officials the hunts were staged events designed to fool the media so his video-selling operation would get free publicity, the officials said.

I think I said that, didn't I? [Big Grin]
