Lauderdale, FL, USA Registered: Jun 2001 posted 12-22-2003 06:54 PM                     Clint, the Slymar quake was on Feburary 9th 1971....I remember it well since it woke me up, I kept falling down ( I thought I was having a stroke ) until I saw swaying electrical poles through my apartment window. Funny, it was my last day as a resident of California ( I had a job offer in Florida )....give me a hurricane any day The 1971 quake updated most of the building codes or Northridge may have been worse........  |  IP: Logged Adam Martin I'm not even gonna point out the irony. There was a gentle swaying. Radio reports 3 earthquakes just minutes apart. 1.9 in central CA followed minutes later by 5.1 off baja coast then 4.7 in lancaster or agora hills. Geoligist believe that one in lancaster may have been a computer glitch. Credible information will be linked once it becomes available. Got to "ride the house" for a second. Fun! ---- Update - the 4.7 was removed from the USGS. It was a glitch. The quake we felt was definately the baja one. ---- Link .
