I've had people compliment my shows and here's what I think...

If they tell the manager and he/she tells me -- I like that. That's my favorite way of getting congratulations or thanks. It doesn't create a major interruption and it also lets the manager know that someone appreciates and recognizes the fact that I'm doing my job well.

I've done the whole booth visit thing and it turns into a tour which can be okay but, really, some visitors can overstay their welcome in the booth so now I tend to avoid that scenario.
