BTW: WTF is a "practice bomb"?

That makes as much sense as "Military Intelligence".

Low level sorties are a daily occurance round here, they often 'bomb' the castle near where I live (Floors Castle - It's where Tarzan came back to live in the film 'Greystoke'). That's on my road to work and I've lost count of the amount of times I've crapped myself driving to work when a Tornado screams over my car at 50ft.

I always thought their bombs were 'simulated' ie they didn't carry any dummy loads, now I'm worried!

It would be fun to drop a Vauxhall Viva right outside Leo Enticknap's place at about 4 a.m. I wish I could think of someone to call.

My place was built in the late-sixteenth century, and apart from a bit of damp in the foundations is still there. The average lifespan of a Vauxhall Viva was about two weeks before they crumbled away to rust (did any of them survive the '70s?): I think the house would win! [Smile]

Phil,

When the airforce does target practice they usually aren't trying to see how big a of a bang they can make but rather increase pilot accuracy when dropping ordanance. Using a real 500lb bomb, even if it was 'dumb', would not only be dangerous (as shown by this incident) but a waste of money.
